JOB TITLE: Accounting Clerk II
CLASSIFICATION: Administrative Specialist II
SALARY RANGE: $18,972.00 - $28,729.00
SUPERVISOR: Director of Finance

DEFINITION:
This is responsible detailed work in the area of purchasing and accounts payable.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Responsible for purchasing supplies for agency.

Maintaining an accurate inventory list for items agency keeps in stock.

Responsible for delivery of items to respective departments.

Responsible for preparing P.O. s for items the agency needs to purchase.

Processing of P.O. through accounting system in a timely manner.

Assists with vendor selection to maintain a least cost purchasing philosophy.

Responsible for all phases of collection procedures.

Responsible for maintaining the Receipt book logs.

Responsible for daily bank deposits for funds received in the Accounting Department.

Responsible for all Accounts Payable functions.

Responsible for 1099’s and all transmittals.

Act as back-up for other accounting department personnel.

Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of bookkeeping and ability to learn assignments readily.

Knowledge of and experience with computer application software.

Knowledge of bookkeeping and general office procedures.

Experience with purchasing and knowledge of Bid Laws.

TITLE: Mental Health Therapist – Children (SS/HS Grant)
CLASSIFICATION: Mental Health Therapist
SALARY RANGE: Contracted Position
SUPERVISOR: Coordinator Safe Schools/Healthy Students Grant

DEFINITION:
This is responsible professional work in the field of mental health. Employees in this class are responsible for counseling children in the Montgomery County public school system that are mentally ill, emotionally disturbed, or presenting behavioral problems.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Perform the function of therapist to include evaluating, diagnosing and treating children and families who show evidence of suffering from a mental disorder, emotional stress, marital and family maladjustment or behavioral disorders.

Participate in training activities to increase therapeutic skills and to become more knowledgeable in methods and techniques used in the care of psychiatric clients.

Work evening clinic when required.

Complete reports required for client records as well as all forms or paperwork required by the Agency.

Perform related duties as required by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of individual and group behavior with special emphasis on problems and feelings of children, adolescents and families.

Knowledge of the principles and methods of counseling.

Knowledge of mental illnesses and the social and individual implications.

Basic knowledge of psycho tropic drugs concerning their use, misuse, desirable and undesirable effects.

Ability to counsel persons who are maladjusted. Ability to make clear and pertinent statements orally and in writing. Competence in public speaking.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from a recognized college or university with a Master's Degree in Social work, Counseling, or Psychology. Experience with children with mental illness preferred. Degree and experience must meet requirements of Medicaid for approved Medicaid provider status.

TITLE: Mental Health Aide - CESP
CLASSIFICATION: Mental Health Worker I
SALARY RANGE: $14,157.00 - $21,438.00
SUPERVISOR: Director, Case Management Services

DEFINITION:
This is responsible work providing individual care and wide awake supervision of residents in a residential setting.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Monitor residents in matters of grooming, money management, discipline and social activities.

Assist in the arrangement for proper emergency medical care of residents when needed.

Routinely monitor and ensure facility safety and upkeep, assuring a suitable environment for residents.

Assist in the restraining of residents who are acting in and out of control manner upon proper authority to restrain.

Perform housekeeping functions in all areas of the Unit and supervise residents in personal housekeeping activities.

Complete routine maintenance chores and see that equipment is maintained and in good working order.

Assist when needed in providing necessary personal care services including bathing, feeding, dressing and other general care duties.

Observe the behavior, attitudes and physical condition of residents and report significant changes.

Escort residents to appointments or activities as needed.

Transport residents to appointments or activities as needed if authorized by the Program Director.

Participate in training activities as required to enhance skills needed to work with the seriously mentally ill.

Supervise residents' daily schedule for meals, housekeeping duties and other activities.

Monitor and comply with established procedures for accidents, fires or other emergencies.

Ensure compliance with facility rules.

Complete reports and paperwork as assigned.

Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:
Some knowledge of behavioral patterns and problems of the mentally ill.

Ability to develop skills necessary to provide basic supervision and care.

Ability and physical capability to assist in the restraining of clients acting in an out of control manner.

Sufficient physical strength and mobility to help lift and support residents.

Knowledge of housekeeping procedures and facility maintenance.

Ability to effectively relate to and communicate with the seriously mentally ill.

Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Some experience in supervising or providing care to individuals who are disadvantaged, emotionally or physically ill and/or behaviorally maladjusted.

If authorized to transport, must hold a valid Alabama Driver's License with a good driving record. Must maintain a driving record that is acceptable to the Authority's insurance carrier.

Must secure and maintain current Red Cross First Aid and CPR Certificates.

TITLE: Safety and Security Officer
CLASSIFICATION: Defined Specialist
SALARY RANGE: Negotiable
SUPERVISOR: Executive Director

DEFINITION:
This is work involving the responsibility for the security and safety of the Authority's facilities located on Coliseum Boulevard and other offices as determined by the Authority.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Responsible for locking and unlocking buildings and setting or turning off alarms when needed.

Routinely monitor grounds and facilities for unsafe conditions.

Assist with persons out of control.

As assigned by supervisor, investigate situations related to security and/or safety issues in the workplace.

Conduct routine fire drills.

Routinely check fire extinguishers and fire alarm systems to ensure they are in working order.

Participate in training activities related to security, safety, dealing with aggressive/assaultive behavior, dealing with persons with serious mental illnesses and others required by the Authority.

Train staff on safety and security issues as well as other areas assigned.

Responsible for ensuring MAMHA owned vehicles are serviced as required.

Serve as back-up to switch-board operator.

Serve as courier between buildings.

Complete reports and paperwork as required by the agency.

Perform related work as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to remain alert and act quickly and use good judgement in emergencies.

Ability to firmly, but tactfully, deal with consumers, staff and public.

Ability to function under stress, to include maintaining one's composure and controlling one's emotions or temper.

Ability to give others clear instructions.

Sufficient strength to perform a variety of lifting and security related measures.

Willingness to go to other offices of the Authority in a four county area as required by supervisor.

TITLE: Case Manager - CEST
CLASSIFICATION: Mental Health Counselor I
SALARY RANGE: $19,920.00 - $30,165.00
SUPERVISOR: Director, Case Management Services

DEFINITION:
This is responsible professional work providing services to a limited target population, to include treatment, rehabilitation and support to persons with serious mental illness and severe functional disability on an outreach basis.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Provide case management services to clients as assigned.

Identify eligible individuals for case management services.

Complete referral information including name and a problem statement.

Visit referred persons and determine needs using the SUN Assessment by conversing with the individual.

Complete a SUN Assessment Form on each client utilizing information gained from the client or a significant other.

Determine resources that would meet the needs identified in the SUN Assessment by contacting provider sources, public and private, both in and out of the catchment area.

Prepare a plan for the provision of community mental health services to the targeted individual involved and review such plan not less that once every three months.

Provide assistance in obtaining and coordinating social and maintenance services for the individual, including services relating to daily living activities, transportation services, habilitation and rehabilitation services, prevocational and vocational services, and housing services.

Assist the individual in obtaining income support services, including housing assistance, food stamps, and supplemental security income benefits.

Refer the individual for such other services as may be appropriate.

Provide representative payee services in accordance with section 1631 (a)(2) of the Social Security Act if the Individual is receiving aid under title XVI of such Act.

Transport clients to services, as well as conduct outreach visits.

Participate in training activities as required by the Authority to increase and enhance professional and therapeutic skills.

Complete reports required for client records as well as all forms and paperwork required by the Agency including Daily Service Reports and other forms as needed.

Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of the special needs and behavioral characteristics of the targeted, chronically mentally ill.

Knowledge of interviewing techniques and principles.

Skills in interpersonal relationships and group dynamics.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle, with a valid Alabama Driver's License and a good driving record.

Knowledge of the use and side effects of psychotropic medication.

Knowledge of the legal and ethical issues relative to confidentiality of client records.

Knowledge of casework principles and methods related to counseling.

Ability and willingness to document activities and maintain records.

Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with consumers, families, hospital staff and community mental health center staff.

Ability to work in a proactive, assertive and energetic manner in fulfilling the duties of this position.

Ability to work effectively as a treatment team member.

Willing to work in non-traditional and in-home settings.

Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and/or weekends if necessary.

Reliable transportation and willingness to transport clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Science or related field from a recognized college or university. Some experience preferred. Must meet requirements of Medicaid for approved Medicaid Provider Status.

Must hold a valid Alabama Driver's License and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to the Authority's insurance carrier. Must maintain liability coverage on personal vehicles.

TITLE: Mental Health Nurse - CS
CLASSIFICATION: Mental Health Specialist II
SALARY RANGE: $28,729.00 - $43,484.00
SUPERVISOR: Director, Designated Children=s Services

DEFINITION:
This is responsible professional work in the field of nursing in the community mental health center setting. Services will be provided to targeted children and adolescents who are identified by the Department of Human Resources and/or Montgomery Area Mental Health Authority.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Assist the psychiatrist and physician in monitoring clients receiving chemotherapy through the Mental Health Authority.

Assist in evaluating the client's general medical status.

Assist doctors in performing routine medication checks.

Administer intramuscular medications as ordered by the doctor.

Provide patient education regarding illness and medications.

Provide emergency assessment in regards to client's medication effects and side effects.

Responsible for contacting the doctor when any significant change in client medication is indicated.

Act as liaison between psychiatrist and others providing care to the client.

Provide services in collaboration with the Department of Human Resources and other agencies/providers under contract with the Department of Human Resources.

Assist other service providers in the provision of services.

Responsible for completing all forms and paperwork required by the Agency including the daily and weekly service reports.

Participate in training activities to increase skills and become more knowledgeable in methods and techniques used in the care of psychiatric patients and in the use and effects of psychotropic drugs.

Perform related work as requested by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of principles, techniques and standards of mental health nursing.

Knowledge of individual and group behavior with emphasis on the problems of the mentally ill.

Knowledge of psychotropic drugs.

Ability to relate warmly to clients.

Ability to recognize in clients any adverse reactions to medication.

Willing to provide services in a non-traditional setting.

Willing to work flexible hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama with experience in nursing, preferably in a psychiatric setting with decision making responsibilities. Experience working independently with little supervision is desired.
